A new 6 week Intensive Online Gilding Course introduces students to the art of Verre Églomisé with a focus on achieving a proper balance between brilliancy and bonding between the gold and silver leaf and the glass. Explore the beautiful artistry of gilded mirrors In both Modern solid gild and abraded ‘antique’ Finishes. Learn to gild with precious 23k gold and 6k white gold leaf, choose the appropriate oil paint for ‘backing up’, and etch designs into gilded glass, an historical approach to verre églomisé. Suitable for those interested in alternative photography techniques such as Orotones, Mirrors, Tabletops, And more.
Gilder Charles Douglas, who began his gilding career glass gilding with the Visual Merchandising Dept. at Saks Fifth Avenue, brings his classes from New York, Seattle, Ontario, and San Francisco to an Online format through Zoom where students are guided step by step through this ancient artform. All levels welcome!
