The recipe for Crackle Gesso that students learn produces a crackling pattern similar to 13th-18th c glided Florentine and Sienese Water Gilded Egg Tempera Painted Panels and Renaissance Period Frames . Students learn to prepare and apply this special custom-mixed gesso as well as how to adjust the depth and degree of the crackle through brush technique, heat, and adjusting the ratios of the materials in the gesso mixture.

This is a special 3-Session course of Study where Instructor Charles Douglas will

• Prepare a Custom Mixed Crackle Gesso Recipe

• Size a Birchwood Panel with Rabbit Skin Glue

• Sand and adjust the appearance and Depth of the Crackle with a full deacription of the process

• Discuss the Process of gilding and with an overview and suggestions for approaching the painting of your Panel or Fframe

• All Levels are Welcome.

Note: Question and Answer periods are included in each weekly session. Classes are both Live Online and Recorded. Recordings remain viewable for six months after the series ends.
