A special welcome to all Seattle Living Social gilding students and voucher holders! The art of Gold Leaf Gilding goes back to over 3,000 years ago to the ancient
Egyptians and yet remains a beautiful art that surrounds us today through the exquisite frames, furniture, and elements of
architectural detail that are often present in our museums and galleries or in our normal everyday lives which may be seen
in unsuspecting ways. Whether you're taking a view of the European paintings collection at the Seattle Art Museum or strolling
through the museums along the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy, you will see magnificent examples of gild leaf gilding.
This special 2-hour
gilding class for Living Social students is designed to demonstrate just how this craft and art is done, from presenting
examples of traditional water gilding, oil gilding, and glass gilding (Verre Églomisé) to offering opportunities
for hands-on participation in handling genuine 23kt gold leaf that is beaten so thin it will blow away with a puff of air.
Living Social Gilding Class is held on most Saturday afternoons and Friday evenings with a choice of one of two sessions.
Please contact the Gilding Studio to request a date and we will get back to you within 48 hours to offer you available dates
to help you schedule. Email is often best at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 206.795.8376. All efforts will be made to accommodate your requested time (it may be good to have a back-up
date in mind).
Location: Gasworks Gallery at 3815 4th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA (North Lake Union)
